John Lennon - Live in NYC Recorded August 30, 1972 - 1st gen VHS from laserdisc - 60 minutes
Note: On August 30, 1972, John Lennon performed his only full-length,
rehearsed solo concert as a benefit for a New York charity. This
program, as compiled and produced posthumously by Yoko Ono, is of the
day's matinee performance (the evening performance, heavily bootlegged,
is actually a bit better). It's ragged, it's sloppy, it's a little
crazy. But it's a great look at John Lennon and his engaging style of
live performance - as well as hearing his athletic voice roar in
concert. He would only appear in concert live once more, two years
later, as a walk-on.
