Note: Although an audience recording, it is of exceptional quality, many of the instruments sound close-miked, in particular the percussion, tambourine, etc. are exceptionally clear, better than on many soundboard recordings! One of the most listenable audience recordings I have ever heard - and a great performance to boot. Also important for more "historic" reasons, this show marked the first public performances of some of the new work showcased at the Unplugged taping 2 weeks prior. After opening with a blistering "Anything For Your Love", and following with some of the Journeyman material, EC gives the first public performance of "My Father's Eyes", six years before its release on the Pilgrim album. This performance features an early, more agressive arrangement of the song, with an interesting bridge section that isn't found in the Pilgrim-era rendition of the song. After a supercharged "She's Waiting", the band settles down to a short acoustic set, showcasing Circus Left Town, Tears in Heaven, and Signe. As the Unplugged show had yet to be broadcast when this show was performed, it's interesting to compare this recording with performances later in the tour, where the first few notes of "Tears" would generate tremendous applause - at this performance the audience is politely receptive, but clearly unfamiliar with the material. A complete recording of the entire show, including the drum solos during "Sunshine of Your Love." Highly recommended.
