Geetarz Comments:

Typically when one is referring to American manufacturing, and in particular the guitar industry, the 1970s are usually considered to be the "dark ages" in terms of quality. That is to say, that guitars produced during these years are no where near as desirable as those produced before or after. However, with some experience one finds that although this is true in general, that does not mean that there were no good instruments produced during this period, only that the average quality fell somewhat.

In many ways, EC's career suffers from much the same categorization, with the overall view being that the 1960s and 1980s-beyond were his best eras for performance, and although this generalization is true overall, likewise that does not mean that the occasional 1970s show did not have true flashes of brilliance. We would suggest that this performance is one of those that were definitely above average and worthy of further listening. Of note are really good versions of 'Blues Power' and 'Cocaine', but the real standout track here is the slow blues medley of 'Rambling On My Mind > Have You Ever Loved a Woman' which is simply fantastic. Recommended.
