My thoughts on the current AOL situation..as if anyone needs to hear more
thoughts on the subject, but anyway...

1) Being a former AOL customer for a VERY short time, I don't see why anyone
would hesitate to change ISP's. There are so many out there that are local,
better, and in many cases charge less. Is AOL really offering that much
more that you need to stay with them? The way I see it, the AOL subscribers
who aren't getting the Digest must not really care about getting it much,
otherwise they'd change ISP's. Granted, if you're one of those Best Buy
shoppers who got suckered in on signing up for a 4yr ISP plan for a rebate
on a cheap computer, you really don't have much of a choice.

2) I'm certainly no master on how AOL works, but my guess is that you could
at least receive the Digest through a web-based email account, such as
Hotmail, Yahoo, Excite, etc, etc, etc... Just open a new account for free
and subscribe to the Digest using that email address instead of your AOL
address. Better yet, every web-based email account has the option for POP
mail, so you can receive your AOL email through that same account. Voila!

So anyway, that's my thoughts, for what it's worth.

It has always been a mystery to me that Eric is not credited for his
blistering playing on Art Of Dying.
My suspicion is that Eric's authorised 1985 Biography by Ray Connolly
accidentally omitted this fact when compiling tracks on ATMP to which EC
contributed, and this has been sourced for several subsequent discographies.
Art Of Dying has Dominos written all over it, and is one of my very
favourite of his sessions.
Goosebumps with every playing!

Cheers,
Jon

I recently bought George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. Sadly, most of
the songs are still drowned in Phil Spector's Wall of Sound.

Anyway - is there anyone out there that noticed the similarities between
the track "The Art of Dying" and the Derek & the Dominos' "Why Does Love
Got to Be So Sad" of a month or so later? Strangely, I've never seen it
listed that Eric Clapton played on The Art of Dying. Sort of echoes the
thoughts of DeltaNick about Laya & Other Assorted Love Songs a week or
so ago which indicated that the album was nothing different to what was
being done by others at the time.

What I miss in the CD packaging (as opposed to the original LP's box) is
the poster of the picture of George Harrison as shown on page 3 of the
booklet. When I had a bachelor flat, the toilet was located in a dark
corner of the bathroom. I hung the poster just below the ceiling
opposite the toilet, which was "daunting" for those using sitting on the
bogs.

Cheers - Kevin

Hello all,

Been off the list for a couple of months. Has
anyone made any CDs of the reptile tour. I saw
the Sacramento (no strat)and Oakland shows and
loved both. Hoping to get a hand on a copy of
any of the shows. Please help.

Thanks,

GT

Haven't seen this on the Digest and there is marginal EC content! B. B.
King's set was almost identical to last year's performance. He did not go
through the "I don't have Eric Clapton with me tonight...I don't have
Nathan East with me tonight, etc" routine. I'm not discouraging you from
going, I'm just saying it's the same show.

Buddy Guy's set list varies from night to night, yet his show was similar to
previous performances. Why argue with success, I guess.

I enjoyed seeing John Hiatt again. The main thing he has in common with
Blues musicians is that he has never been as popular as he should have been!
Of interest, before performing "Riding With The King," he spoke about the
important elements of songwriting. He said if one does these things, he or
she might find their song recorded by B. B. King someday!

This was odd on two counts. First, he did not mention Eric Clapton.
Perhaps understandable since Clapton was not there and the main objective
was to honor Mr. King. But even more unusual was that he never mentioned
Buddy Guy. See, Buddy Guy has an album called "Feels Like Rain." The title
track was written by John Hiatt! And when Buddy Guy performed it, there was
no mention of John Hiatt.

Hello everyone.

I am the owner of the Legends video tape, and it is amazing stuff in amazing quality, believe me. I spent a serious amount on it, that's right, but it was worth it.

I have been thinking about sharing the show with everybody else but I am not very sure about it. Let me tell you why.

If I make this video available, sooner or later, some bootlegger will put his hands on it and will make money lots of money -- don't forget the fact we are talking about a fabulous PROSHOT recording not audience -- I don't want that to happen, BUT...

I suppose that is something we can't avoid. I mean, sooner or later the tape will find its way to some bootlegger... So, if this is gonna happen... Why not get some money for it??

I have been trying to get in touch with people in different countries (bootleggers I suspect) trying to get money for the video tape. I got one response from Italy but I'm still waiting for responses from Japan to see if they can beat the Italian offer.

I want to recover what I paid for the tape, get some bootlegs in return and also I would like to raise some extra money to donate to the Crossroads Centre -- I feel Eric should get something from this as well.

If I can't get it, then I'm afraid I won't be able to tree this recording. Bootleggers won't make money with this recording, MY recording, and if they do, the money will be spent in a right way.

Regards,
manolenta@wanadoo.es

I received my order from CD Now yesterday, and promptly requested a return
authorization. There was very little new to warrant keeping the disks. The
track list on the Unplugged CD was unchanged from the original version. It
was the same CD that I already had. The Chronicles CD had two added tracks.
A live edit of WT (yippee!) and Tearing Us Apart (with Tina Turner). I'm
sure that was the cut from August. There was no remixes or added tracks
from the Unplugged sessions (which was what I really wanted).
