Considering the fact that Clapton has released very little worth listening
to in the past 30 years or so, Maconie's comments, while a bit harsh,
aren't necessarily too far off base. Granted one riff doesn't make a
career, and his best work was probably recorded prior to that one riff, but
7 great years out of 38 (with the remaining 31 being mediocre at best)
isn't something to jump up and down about.

Just my $0.02.

RSdaily reports: ERIC CLAPTON will release a ne 5.1 surround sound DVD
called "Live In Hyde Park", on Nov.13th. The 90 minute performance is
culled from a jUne 1996 concert in London with more than 150,000 fans in
attendance. Clapton enlisted Bob Dylan, the WHO, and Alanis Morrissette
to make guest appearances. The DVD will contain two bonus tracks, a
cover of Muddy Waters (HOOCHIE COOCHIE MAN" and "IT HURTS ME", which are
on the VHS release.

(thanks for the space you guys)

that's exactly why Clapton's career has lasted so long!

   The word "ignorant" seems appropriate.<<

In case there's any confusion, ignorance is not a required job qualification for rock critics, but it's a big help.
