I burned a CD of the 2001 EC Uncovered tracks last week and listened to it
over the weekend. I was *very* impressed with the entire disk. Every track
is enjoyable. There were some notable standouts IMHO.

First, White Room by Micheal Prehn was superb! My eleven-year-old son kept
hitting track 4 over and over again. He loved it -- and so did I. It came
very close to capturing the intensity of the original. I did not realize
that Greg (my son) was into this kind of music. Wait until I turn him on to
WOF.

My personal favorite is Grant Abt's version of Lonely Stranger. I play and
sing this song and don't stray far from the Unplugged arrangement. Grant's
take was unique and very enjoyable. He managed to add an element to the
song that was totally new and yet completely in the style of E.C. I plan to
look into his arrangement in some detail when I get some free time. It
actually sounded like the into was from My Father's Eyes -- at least the
chord changes. The overdubbed (I assume) solos were indistinguishable from
Eric himself. Very cool.

River of Tears by Heiko Schultz was excellent. The music here was nicely
close to the original. The added "voice-over" by Eric was a nice touch.

Fall Like Rain by Brian Sherrill was another close-the-original number that
captured the emotion of the song quite well.

HYELAW by Phil Newton, was nicely done, and even more evocative given that
the performer was noted to have died recently following the recording. It
was haunting for me to listen, knowing this.

I would love to get a run-down on each track regarding the method of
recording and the instruments used. This information was published on last
year's Tribute. How about posting this info to the list.

FWIW, I am working on gaining experience with recording so I may contribute
next year. Suffice it to say that this year's edition has raised the bar
substantially. Nice job folks.

EC's New Year's Eve AA gig, sadly, was announced to the world in the UK
"broadsheet" The Telegraph, including the location of the venue. So much
for anonymity.

See 1b.
Maybe he was watching his baby bride heading for the stores. He has sort of
a here-we-go-again look on his face.

Ignorant is a senior citizen thinking that a 25 yr. old girl could love a
man who is more than twice her age, without money being a big part of the
picture. I have 2 daughters very close to that age. I asked them if they
would date a man over the age of 50. They're replies were Ewww (daughter
#1) and how rich would he be(daughter #2). Then daughter #1 said that the
man would have to be a billionaire.

Just in case any Aussie viewers are not aware, there is a program called
Rock Legends: Eric Clapton scheduled for ABC TV tomorrow (Wed) evening at
9:30 PM.
The Sydney Morning Herald published preview of the show yesterday, written
by a guy called Greg Hassall, which was less than complimentary. But we know
better than that, don't we, so despite Mr Hassall's lack of interest (made
me wonder why he reviewed it at all) I'm sure it will be great watching.

Cheers,
Jon

Hi friends,

Recently the musical abilities of Clapton were questioned here in the
digest. For me, he is more and more fantastic (I saw him in Porto Alegre)
and I think this is the best phase of his career, but if he decides to hang
out his guitar, I will lament, but I will respect his decision, after all,
39 years of a glorious trajectory passed. High and low, yes, but, glorious.
But I don't believe in this, he only wants some peace and rest to return
revigorado. Here in Brazil he demonstrated to be extremely tired.

The marriage of the old slowhand is not a surprise. The religiosity,
perhaps. Even so, he always demonstrated his faith making some pretty songs
like " In the presence of the lord, We've been told (Jesus i comming soon),
Give me strenght, etc. Eric Clapton's first song that I heard in my life was
" Give Me Strengh " and I was very impressed with that powerful and
developing lament of a man asking for God help. Starting from then, I became
a devote of Eric Clapton.

In the show that he did in Rio de Janeiro on October 13, 2001, he gave
indications that his religiosity was being deepened, with his respect
gesture to one of the symbols of the Catholicism in Brazil. He asked so that
the stage was in front the statue of Cristo Redentor. He visited Cristo
Redentor on the 14, for the morning, alone, releasing the safety.

Be happy with his new family, Eric. If you are happy, we will also be happy.

Sam,

You're absolutely right.

A very good idea! I have downloaded the album. I'd like to contribute for
the next time with some songs in MP3 format. We are a lot of EC fans also in
Spain. Thanks for the SH Digest.

Hey SD Fans,

This week's MP3 is quite a treat! To my knowledge, this is the first
soundboard recording of the recent tour. River of Tears is the track this
week, a great quality and performance on this one! It was a tough call
between this and a stellar version of Stormy Monday, but it's such an
improvement from the Pilgrim Tour version that it had to win out. Hopefully
this show makes the rounds quickly as it's such good quality. I imagine
we'll be seeing some soundboard audio and video from the Japan tour soon(?)
Hope so!

Enjoy!
Josh
btw - sorry for the late posting this week, classes re-commenced yesterday
and somehow that takes preference :)
