As most have already, I too have a copy of the Budokhan tour that is
being spread by Perpetual Freebies. I will burn for the first 4
respondents, copies of the show, if they can meet the following
qualification's.

1. Live in the US so my freebie can go out with a minimum of postage
expense.

2. Send me you name and address with propper capitalization of your
name and address, so I can cut and paste it into my label making
program.

Pretty close without getting all the actual shows that they were taken from.

OK, I did it with the help of a few others on the list, and in honor of EC's
approaching Birthday I have collected at least one version of every song
played on the 2001 Reptile World tour.I'm calling it the Farewell Tour Box
set. It's 3 80 minute discs.
Included are the guest appearances by the Impressions, Jimmy Vaughan, Doyle,
Buddy Guy, and Billy Preston. I've tried to use the best source masters I
could. The majority is built around Budokan 12-4 based on the overall sound
quality, from there I used Buenos Aires versions, to RAH 2-4, etc. Some songs
like Sheriff were only played once on the entire tour! I will seed 6 copies
for distribution around the world. I need 3 USA (East, Midwest,West coast) 1
Canada, 1 Europe, 1 Japan, 1 South America, and 1 Down under (Aust.NZ)
volunteers to offer up as a source for their region. You must be willing to
offer up to at least 4 requests in your area and hopefully they will offer
it up so it will keep on spreading to everyone.I am working on artwork now
and will send it to our good buddy Mark Deavult for posting on his site for
us.I will post the volunteers and their region and e-mail address.
Contact me by e-mail and send me your trade lists if you wish to volunteer
only. Enjoy!

Aparently their are two Budokan shows circulating on the list, the
excellent 14/4/01 Soundboard and an audience recording. The Audience
recording while quite good sound quality has a lot f clapping along to the
music. This was offered to me by someone on the list as a two for one and
when I received it
it was not the soundboard recording from NHK TV. The person who will remain
nameless claims this is what he got as 12/4/01. The real 12/4/01 Sounboard
is circulating as a free weed on this list. This show is definately from
Japan but not 12/4/01.Did anyone else get this show? Does anyone really know
the date and
 venue of this Japanese show?
 Thanks

I am sending this note for the third time and hope it is the charm. I have
a copy of the Budokan 2002 show and am offering a copy to the first 4 to
respond to my personal email address. The respondants should agree to offer
it up for other Slowhanders, also.

I also will send a copy to the lady that was on my Tampa tree. I have
forgotten her name and lost her email address. Please make contact with me.

my vote is for what prince is doing now adays. i went to his show last nite.
he is an incredible musician, and played a lot of mean guitar. he
structurally put together and played more fiery solos than bramhall did all
reptile tour, playing a telecaster, a widebody gibson, and a purple
who-knows-what shaped like the unpronounceable symbol that used to be his
name! i believe EC has cited him as a favorite of his in the past.

anyways, he has his own record label now and is producing whatever he wants,
which is pretty much what EC is doing with his duck record label at reprise,
except EC is under contract to produce at a certain rate in a certain
timeframe, which may inhibit the creative process, whereas prince can go as
fast or slow as he wants.

however, prince is only playing playhouses (about 3,000 people). i know EC
regularly can sell out 20,000 seat arenas and the occasional soccer stadium,
but he has mentioned he wants to cut back these huge deals anymore.
prince also has a fan club where members can go to the soundcheck, and also
get priority seats to the show. the club also offers unreleased music that
you cant get anywhere else for its members.

the set was reminiscent of the pilgrim tour, where he played about 7 songs
off the new album (quite jazz influenced, with a heavy dose of funk). mixed
in a smattering of greatest hits, along with dusted off chestnuts not
performed in years off of earlier albums that the crowd ate up (ie
bellbottom blues, little wing).
came out for a solo encore on piano with retooled versions of past hits, and
closed with some older songs i wasnt familiar with.

if you like R+B, and if you can stand the women screaming during the slow,
sexual love songs (about 4 or 5 songs), i would highly recommend the show.
only drawback was having to charge $125 to make up for the smaller venue,
although cheaper seats were $45, but my sister in law (the big prince fan)
wanted the best for her birthday!

My imaginary conversation:
Eric, you've been a professional musician for close to
40 years with only a brief pause in the early
'70s.You've been repeating the same musical idea's
for the last few years anyway, so, I suggest you take
time out, maybe 3 or 4 years and enjoy your new child
which is something you didn't have a chance to do
with your other children.
You don't need the money or the fame anymore, so spend
these last year's of your life away
from the spotlight. You can always get a gig later,in
Vegas as an over the hill rock star :)
