IMO, Derek and the Dominoes, didn't have the potential to be one of the
greatest bands in history, unquestionably they were, and proved it with
1 2 record set.

For Clapton to continue long-term with the name Derek..... would have
been completely innapropriate, with Duanne Allman out of the picture.

It reminds me of a situation almost 2 years ago. Again, involving the
Allman Brothers Band. Either Dickey Betts or Gregg Allman had to go,
and by concensus (minus Dickey) that Dickey must go. If Gregg left, how
could they rightfully call them selves The ABB.

Also, in 1995, when Jerry Garcia died, the Grateful Dead name was not
used for the bands former members subsequent bands.

As the Allman Brothers Band couldn't use that name without the surviving
brother in the band, and the Grateful Dead deciding not to continue to
use that name after Jery's death, I think it was completely appropriate
for Clapton to not continue to use the Name Derek and the Dominoes.

It's almost like how can the Beach Boys be the Beach Boys, without Brian
Wilson.

I believe Clapton could have continued to be successful with the same
band, without Duanne, using a different name. That he chose to do other
work, like Delaney and Bonnie, and his work on All Things Must Pass, was
his decision.

Even without Duane. While of course their first album
wouldn't have been
the same without him, I think that they had enough
internal creativity to
remain a great band absent his presence.

As you can see by my e-mail address, I am not
e-mailing from an AOL account. This is usually the
given reason when digests are missing. So, what is
the reason for the missed digests now? Anyone guess?

Thanks

Lauren

Ya gotta do a little 'net snooping to earn it... It's real easy.

First 5 to tell me one of my dog's names gets a copy of the 3CD set.

Email your answer, name and address. US preferred, will accommodate ONE
non-US winner if they meet the other criteria. Non-winners will not be
notified. Need not be present to win. Void where prohibited. Etc. etc.

I discovered this setting in my mail program (Eudora). Then I read Gary's
post in my 'newly adjusted' mail program - in one e-mail message without
attachments. What threw me off, was out of all of the other digests I
receive, Slowhand was the only one that came as an attachment after I
upgraded my program.
Thanks for the feedback, hope this helps others.

Anybody heard of The Professors Blues Review? It's Clapton and somebody. I
just came across some songs that I can't place.
